If you’re having an intimate wedding you may not consider needing a wedding planner but when you have three venues in central London and are getting married 2 days before Christmas it definitely helps.
When K&A approached me to help with their wedding planning they knew the kind of day they wanted – an atmospheric and intimate gathering of family and friends with a meaningful sunset ceremony – but had no idea how to bring their vision to life.
Elegant and Intimate Winter Wedding
Their day started with them both getting ready at The Kimpton Fitzroy where they also had a first look. Alex got very emotional when he first saw Kristen, it was a beautiful moment to watch and be captured by the photographer. It also gave them time to get some lovely portraits together before the hustle of the wedding day.
Intimate wedding ceremony at Fitzrovia Chapel
The Fitzrovia Chapel is a gorgeous wedding venue in the heart of London, with beautiful decor and a great atmosphere. With such stunning surroundings of the chapel, we chose to keep the decor simple with just an abundance of LED pillar candles dressing the altar and aisle.
For their marriage ceremony, Kristen and Alex had an independent celebrant, which allowed them to have a truly meaningful ceremony full of all the personal touches they wanted, including a wine box ceremony. They chose a special bottle of wine for “for just like a good wine, a great love will deepen and mature with age” and wrote each other love letters that they locked in the box to be opened on their 10-year wedding anniversary.
The day was perfect! Kristen and Alex said their vows with joy in their hearts, surrounded by 22 of their closest friends and family who loved them dearly. It was just what they had always imagined it would be: intimate, personal, and full of love!
A string quartet performed during their December wedding ceremony. The guests enjoyed Champagne and mini mince pies afterwards. After that, there was a sparkler exit for Kristen and Alex into the night.
The Beauty Of The Details
Kristen and Alex’s wedding day was a testament that you can have a beautiful, elegant affair even in the winter months. With gorgeous flowers from Boom Bloom, amazing food from Goose & Berry, and cake by Sugar Plum Bakes, Kristen and Alex’s London wedding had everything they could want – and more!
The professional photos taken by Balance Photography show off just how spectacular this event was. Kristen and Alex’s love for one another is so evident in their photos. The couple looked like they were floating on clouds as they gazed into each other’s eyes for their first kiss as husband and wife.
A Simple Wedding: A Classic, Timeless Affair
When Kristen and Alex were planning their intimate winter wedding, all they looked for was a simple celebration of their story. But they also wanted to include their love of history, museums, and art; so the dinner was held at The Charterhouse. The venue was perfect for them! The beautiful architecture, the history of the building, and the museum-like feel of this site made it the ideal location.
Guests were given a tour of the building on arrival. This helped create a sense of connection between past and present as they celebrated Kristen and Alex’s love story.
One long dining table, deep reds, gold decor, and personalised glass bauble tealight holders that we bagged at the end of the night as gifts for guests to take home, with a boxed slice of wedding cake – it was all so romantic!
The couple served a five-course dinner with different wines for each course. This gave their guests plenty of time to enjoy each other’s company while they ate amazing food.
After dinner, they moved to the Cloister for speeches. Once the whole celebration party was over, Kristen and Alex went to the Kimpton Fitzroy Hotel where they were staying for a nightcap.
