A mood board for an autumn wedding in London

An Autumn Wedding In London

In my last post I looked at the lovely autumn wedding of Nic and Rich at the Royal Geographical Society in Kensington and today I wanted to share the mood board and some of the design details of the day.

Autumnal reds moodboard

As part of my full wedding planning service I put together a design brief that breaks the day down into the different parts from the ceremony to the reception and looks at design details and colour palettes; the mood board above was one of two I put together that they chose to go for.

The ceremony was held in the Main Hall, keeping in mind the informal feel to the day we opted for benches rather than chairs and I designed and made a striking fabric ribbon backdrop in autumnal shades of red and orange; the couple stood on a lush deep red rug we bought for the ceremony which they were able to keep for their home afterwards. We were then able to use the benches with sofas that were already in the venue to create little lounge areas with coffee tables so keeping the relaxed vibe of the day.

The gorgeous flowers by Boutique Blooms in clusters of varying vases were a lovely combination of seasonal autumn flowers and foliage but also the Gloriosa flame lily which as the national flower of Zimbabwe was important to Nic be included. The couple also made 100’s of origami cranes in matching shades or orange, red and map print paper to tie in with the maps at the Royal Geographical Society.

All the on the day stationery was designed by friends and comprised of vintage map inspired information posters for the different parts of the day.

We also put together a DIY photobooth by covering a notice board with a selection vintage maps and the after dinner dessert buffet by Sweet and Eventful continued the travel theme with vintage suitcases and globes as props and maps as tags and tray liners.
