Autumn Wedding In London
On a crisp autumn day in London Nic and Rich celebrated their wedding with friends and family who joined them from all over the world. With Nic’s family now living in Australia and having grown up in Zimbabwe, their wedding day was always was going to be one filled with international touches.
When Nic and Rich asked me to help with their wedding planning Nic was living in Liverpool and only had limited time in London with Rich at the weekends so knew they would need help with full wedding planning. When we discussed what they wanted for their wedding day it was important to them that guests could mingle without the restrictions of being at dining tables and not have to worry about getting around different venues especially as a number of guests were coming from overseas.
The Royal Geographical Society was the perfect location for their autumn wedding; not only because of its obvious travel and map connection but because the layout of the venue allowed us to utilise the spaces in different ways for the various parts of the day.
Nic got ready at the fabulous Ampersand Hotel in South Kensington and had her hair and makeup done by Amanda Roberts. Her maids joined her to get ready and Nic gifted them all with beautiful floral dressing gowns Nic had purchased from Etsy.
The boys all met at a local pub and then walked up to the Royal Geographical Society where both the ceremony and wedding reception were going to be held.
After the ceremony guests enjoyed drinks and canapés on the terrace and then returned to the main hall and education room for dinner but rather than a formal sit-down meal they had food stations where guests could help themselves to a choice of curry, fajitas or burgers with fish and chips and risotto were passed around by the catering staff.
After the enjoyable speeches and cutting of the cake, which was lovingly made by a family friend, guests continued to dance the night away to fab band Party Down.
