It’s not always easy to overcome obstacles when planning a wedding. Whether you’re running out of time, struggling to find a venue, or living in a different country, a creative wedding planner can be an absolute life-saver to help you get everything done.
In the six years I’ve been a wedding planner, I’ve helped dozens of couples create their dream wedding days. Here are three examples of obstacles we’ve overcome together:
1 Time poor couple
This couple had seriously busy lives: a new job, a new home, and no time to plan. They’d started off well enough and found a venue and the dress but suddelnly they had less than three months left to arrange everything elset! Because I have a wealth of contacts, from caterers to photographers to florists, I was able to pull together a crack team at short notice, still giving the couple all the choice they needed to create a fabulous day!
2. Venue dilemma
Another couple wanted a really laid-back and informal wedding day, one in which they could keep all the guests together throughout the day. So the venue search was on! The only catch was that they lived in two different cities, only saw each other at weekends, and had no time to visit venues themselves.
After talking with the couple to really understand their needs, I found the perfect venue where they could have their ceremony AND a wonderful after party. And we decided on some great styling ideas to keep the informal feel they wanted, like bench seating, which was easily rearranged from the ceremony to relaxed reception seating.
3. Overseas couple
With only two visits to the UK before the wedding day, this couple really needed someone on the ground to organise venue visits, tastings and supplier meetings, which I was delighted to help with! Our initial consolation was via Skype then 4 weeks later (after I’d reasearched and visited a number of locations for them) on their first visit we secured the venue. By their second visit I’d arranged a number of meetings including tastings with caterers & cake makers, a venue visit with their florist, a visit to bridal show to discuss décor ideas and accompanied them to all these meetings so that I could follow up and finalise arrangements afterwards. After the wedding, the bride said it was one of her favourite parts about planning the wedding!
So, just because it might feel like you’re coming up against an impossible challenge, don’t despair! It’s still possible to have your dream wedding day, especially if you work with a wedding planner who really understands you as a couple.
