A colourful Dulwich wedding

A Dulwich Wedding

Dulwich Chapel South East London

Sophia and Oskar were married on a crisp June day in Dulwich, South London; it was a day filled with bright colours, vibrant flowers, delicious food and lots of love and laughter.

When Sophia first got in touch to say she needed help planning her wedding she was feeling very stressed not only because she was in the middle of planning a wedding but she was also in the midst of a major house renovation, her twin son and daughter changing schools following the family moving home and embarking on a career in television on top of her work as barrister!

Bride with colourful bouquet

Sophia chose a bold colour scheme of orange and purple as she wanted the day to be fun and bright. There was to be no bridal party as such but guests were asked to wear tulip colours-pink, red, orange and purple for the ladies and blue and navy for the gentlemen.

The ceremony was held at Christ’s Church chapel in Dulwich, their local church and included a baptism for the twins. Following the ceremony guests had drinks on the lawns while listening to a steel band trio who then led the guests on their walk to Dulwich College for the wedding reception.

Dulwich College Great Hall wedding reception

For the reception in the magnificent Great Hall at Dulwich College I suggested one long table so all the guests could sit together. I created a runner of orange and purple ribbons down the length of the table which the lovely Liz from Blue Sky Flowers used a mix of tall displays comprising balls of purple Hydrangea, dahlias and Roses, Celosia and low single vases of orchids, hydrangeas and dahlias that ran along the length of the table.

I’m delighted to say this wedding was also featured in Your London Wedding over the summer and Sophia was very complimentary about everything I did to help her during the planning stages and on the day itself, here was her top wedding planning tip to couples:

“Book a wedding planner, best decision ever, she took away all the stress and worries of planning the wedding, recommended great suppliers for me and was there to support me throughout, I called Andri my ‘Wonderbra’ as she was my secret support!”
